None Shall Sleep takes place in 1982 and follows teenagers Emma, a serial killer survivor, and Travis, who are recruited to the FBI to help them catch a serial killer who is targeting teenagers. Not because the others were bad, but just because this one had everything I was looking for. I read several YA thrillers in the past year, which prior to 2020 wasn’t a subcategory that I’d realized existed, and of those few, this one was hands-down my favorite. I highly, highly recommend reading this book! If you have read it and want to know my full, spoilery thoughts, I’ll link my review here. I cried at the end of the story it really struck a chord with me. As the story goes on, it unpacks more of what she went through the year before, and the storytelling was just masterfully done.

I love how flawed and real Annabelle felt, and you can’t help but root for both her and her wholesome grandfather. This book was raw and emotional and I was gutted by the end. What starts as a movement for herself becomes something much bigger as people all over the country begin to root for her, and she travels the country with her grandfather, meeting new friends along the way, as she tries to grapple with her difficult past with someone she calls The Taker. But I am so glad I took a chance on what started as a random book and quickly become a new favorite of mine! The story follows Annabelle, who went through something traumatic nine months earlier, and after a difficult night decides to run from Seattle to Washington DC. To be honest, a large part of the reason I bought this book was because it was on sale at Barnes and Noble. A Heart in a Body in the World by Deb Caletti
